Description
The LONG RANGER was designed to carry large groups, long distances, for the purpose of inter-action in coastal and shallow area's. She is by design very easy to maintain and very economical to operate All vacuum bagged fiberglass composite construction. Built on purpose drawn hull lines from Derek Kelsall. Parts fabricated utilizing the finest materials and the largest commercial vacuum table in New Zealand. The vessel was conceived in 1993 as a educational research platform, to bring university students from around the world, out to the atomic test facility in the southern Tuamotus of French Polynesia. Once boat was almost completed (except interior furnishings) the project was postponed. The owner stayed on boat but run out of budget her completion. The boat was used for chartering at Tonga. After that, the owner with family crossed the Pacific and via Japan, Kuril and Aleut Islands, and came down to Costa Rica. Then, the boat was purchased by Russian owner in order to refit as VIP yacht. The trimaran crossed the Pacific to Thailand, where it was lifted for full refit. During refit, only hull remained and all other equipment was substituted. Hull proved to perfect condition, it was sprayed with gelcoat and polished, new wave breaker moldings on the underside of bridge added. In general, new boat was constructed using already proven hull. Old mast and boom remain. All interior compartments were reconsidered, new mechanical and electrical systems installed, all systems and navigation equipment were replaced. Volume of fuel tanks increased almost 3 times. Really, this is new boat based on well proven seagoing and performance hull. Recondition was performed considering requirements of Classification Societies and Luxury Yacht Code for ocean class of operation.
