Description
The Liberty 458 / Delta 46 is a centre cockpit cutter-rigged sailing vessel designed by Jrg von Rehden (Germany) in the late 1970's and Peter Hoyt (USA) in the early 1980's. The yachts were built at the Shin Fa yard in Taiwan, which also built the renowned Hans Christian yachts.
The hull is the same mould as the Kelly-Peterson 44. The deck layout and interior are completely different. Essentially, both designers had a vision of the ultimate liveaboard interior and they needed a hull to put it in. Since over 200 of the Peterson hulls were built, the hull was a proven design. Under 35 Liberty 458s were built, a few less of the Delta 46 for the European market
Daddeldu Was the last Delta 46 to be built before the owner family of the boat yard immigrated to Canada.
